Message From the HSUHK President

We are honoured to become one of the important partners in Fo Guang Shan's grand global cause. The Centre for Humanistic Buddhism was jointly established by a group of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) enthusiastic faculty members and Fo Guang Vihara Hong Kong. It is the third Buddhism-related Centre among Hong Kong universities, and the first center in Hong Kong with the theme of applied research and study of Humanistic Buddhism. Our vision is to apply the spirit of Humanistic Buddhism into many situations: work, life, and society; rather than only focusing in academic research and publications. Combining the motto and philosophy of HSUHK, with the spirit of Erudition and Perseverance, the Centre is committed to become an important platform to promote the application and practice of Humanistic Buddhism in the Greater Bay Area, and to promote self-esteem, respect to others, family harmony, social harmony, and world peace. I believe that the Centre will bring more compassion, wisdom and happiness to the Hong Kong society.

Message From the Chief Abbess(HK, Macau & Shenzhen)

The establishment of the Centre is a tribute to everyone’s effort. Master Hsing Yun once said education improves the way of living and the quality of life. We strive to sustain a culture that nurtures our virtues and the interconnectedness of one another as we know, wealth and fame are not the measures of happiness, knowledge and inner peace. Ultimately, with the teachings of Buddha, we hope that the Center for Humanistic Buddhism can really apply what the Buddha said, what people want, what is purifying, what is good and what is beautifulo to make our society a place of great bliss and peace.
